China

Established in China in 1903, ABN AMRO currently has 14 branches and employs more than 1,000 staff in China. In July 2007, we received approval from the China Banking Regulatory Commission for local incorporation in China and we're fully licensed and qualified to invest in the domestic stock market and provide derivatives services.

We were one of the first banks accepted to enter China's inter-bank foreign exchange trading market. In addition, since the introduction of Van Gogh Preferred Banking to China in 2003, our customer based has multiplied by more than five-fold. We were awarded "Most Innovative Wealth Management Product of Year 2006" for Van Gogh Preferred Banking in China.

Headquartered in Shanghai, we plan to grow our business in China by 300% over the next five years and expand our network to more than 20 branches by the end of 2008.
