Q: What is ABLE?

A: It is a series of ability tests for selection which combines work simulation exercises with the objectivity of psychometric tools. The test you will be taking form the ABLE series is called FINANCIAL APPRAISAL

Q: What does ABLE measure?

A: The tests measure your potential to learn a given task or job, the potentials to succeed quickly in that job and the potential to adapt to a changing work environment.

Q: What does the Financial Appraisal Test measure?

A: It assesses for: analytical skills in a financial context, the comprehension of financial language, ability to discover data relevant to financial decisions, decision making with financial data, ability to learn and apply new financial ratios and other indicators and concept development.

Q: What is the scenario?

A: You 'work' in a venture capital firm and your company invests in unlisted companies to allow them to expand. The task is to learn methods for assessing financial and statistical information then apply them to various applicants and so make preliminary evaluations and decisions.

Q: Will I need a calculator?

A: No

Q: How long is the test?

A: It is 21 questions and the time allocated to the test is 45 minutes (following a 15 minute introduction session with your test administrator)

Q: Are there any practice questions I can do beforehand?

A: No. The whole point of the exercises is to find out how quickly and easily you are able to learn and carry out the tasks at hand. If practice questions were given this would interfere with the learning which is meant to take place when you sit the test.

Q: How can I prepare for the test?

A: Aside from practice questions which are not available, the best advice we can give you before you sit this test is:

  • To get a good night's sleep beforehand and arrive well in time
  • If you wear glasses or a hearing aid, make sure you have them with you
  • Listen carefully to the instructions that you are given by your test administrator and don't be afraid to ask the administrator questions before the test starts.
